Some very common problems when installing scripts can be avoided by following these simple directions:

1. Edit the script with your site peculiar information only as directed and use a common text editor not a word processor.
2. Verify with your host support people the edited script. Ask them to check it out before you put it to work. They usaully are very willing to do this, since a uncontrolled script can play havic on a server.
3. Always upload the script to the proper directory or directories. And in ASC format Except the graphics if any should be binary.
4. When using a UNIX based script make sure the directory permissions are correct for read/write/execute for user group and global. As directed by the script. Check the readme file or script comments.

Directions for installation of these scripts are included in the script files themselves. Most scripts require the use of cgi-bin or Perle files found on the hosts server. Users should always place any executable script in thier local cgi-bin sometimes bin or cgi directory provided by the host.

You should check with your hosts support personnel to verify if cgi or perle executables are allowed to run from your site. We cannot provide support for these free scripts, however the scripts themselves usaully have contacts commented into them  for reporting bug reports etc.
 

Note: Contacting your host support personnel can save you alot time and sometimes is necessary to install scripts on your site. They may even set it up for you.
